Here's a recap of what happened: The fight between Trump and Clinton began in the first few minutes of the debate. Trump launched a low blow against Clinton, saying that as president she would be "triggering" America's enemies. Trump also claimed that "Hillary wants to see everybody in jail, okay?" This comment appeared to be an attempt to preemptively quash criticism he was likely to face from Clinton about the fact that he has surrounded himself with people who have been connected to the controversial Russian prosecutor, U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine recently said that it "would be a real mistake for us to, you know, engage in attacks or counter-attacks with him. We have to show the world that the United States is focused on bringing about a unified, peaceful and democratic outcome." When asked if Clinton could be trusted with the country's nuclear codes, Trump said, "Hillary doesn't have a chance." Clinton responded, saying, "I want to be commander-in-chief. I want to be commander-in-chief, not a sideshow... We need someone in there who's steady." CNN's Anderson Cooper was not having it when Trump said that there's a "contract" between the presidential candidates and the American people. He said, "Donald Trump, you just said that you alone can fix this country's problems. But I'm not quite sure why you would think that you alone could do that if you're getting help from the Russians and the Saudis." Trump shot back by saying, "You know what? Anderson, I don't get off this stage unless I say something that's perfect. And, you know what, I don't have time to go back and fix all of the horrible things that I say. Okay?"
